In 2025, councils across metropolitan Melbourne, along with the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria, the Entomological Society of Victoria, Melbourne Water, Latrobe University, Victorian Environmental Friends Network, RMIT and the Hobson's Bay Wetlands Centre are collaborating to represent Greater Melbourne and compete with cities from around the world in the 2025 City Nature Challenge.
