We all need native plants! They provide pollinator and wildlife habitat, clean water, and beautiful landscapes for personal restoration and recreation. The Colorado Native Plant Society (CoNPS) is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and appreciating Colorado’s native plants and habitats. We have chapters all over the state and Metro-Denver is the biggest! When you are traveling this year, look us up! Our members go on botany hikes to explore the local flora and you are invited. We have events every week, including native garden tours, botany hikes, special speakers, social events, book clubs, and botanical training courses. Each year, the Colorado Native Plant Society hosts the Annual Conference in a different corner of our Colorado landscape. We are so pleased to come to Denver this year on September 20th to explore the conference theme Native Plants in Our Changing World, convening at the Turnhalle in Tivoli on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver. We welcome Dr. Jennifer Ackerfield, author of the Flora of Colorado and Dr. Therese Crimmins, Executive Director of the National Phenology Network to headline our event. Other speakers will address varied topics following two tracks: horticulture and research & community science. All of our speakers are Colorado Native Plant Society members and thought leaders in their respective fields. From crevice gardens to butterflies and bryophytes, our speakers will address many topics that describe our shared Colorado landscape and the people in it that make it such a great place to live.
