Specimens stored in natural history collections contain a wealth of information, some of which is obtained from the label associated with that specimen. Help us liberate this information from botanical specimens that go back as far as >200years by following online prompts to transcribe label information from specimen images. We will provide tours of the herbarium and library, and geek out about plants, people and our planet's biodiversity. Our VP of Research will be available to share his knowledge of the diversity of the Ericaceae, the blueberry-heath-rhododendron family of plants. Some snacks will be provided. This event is part of a larger international effort, the annual Worldwide Engagement for Digitizing Biocollections (WeDigBio; wedigbio.org) event.
