Join the FWC Ridge Rangers Bass Fishing Tournament Team!
These opportunities will occur monthly from October 2024 to April 2025 at Lake Istokpoga. The Ridge Rangers team has been working with FWC Freshwater Fisheries for over 10 years to assist bass fishing tournament directors on Lake Istokpoga from October-April.
Participants will have the opportunity to assist the tournament director with the final weigh-ins, checking for disease and lesions, measuring fish length, and recording data from each fish presented. The process takes roughly two minutes and provides valuable data to our fisheries biologists.
It is a really fun participatory science project that helps FWC Freshwater Fisheries better understand Bass population health in Lake Istokpoga. We had a few members retire from the team last year, leaving some opens spots for this year. If you are interested in Bass or fishing in general and would like to assist on this volunteer team, please let me know. Most tournaments take place on the weekends, mostly Saturday afternoons. It's simple, fun, and a really important project for FWC.
