Visitors to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains can learn about the species present. In addition, impacts of climate change, tourism and urban development on species at the urban interface in the Blue Mountains can be monitored. The Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute (BMWHI) is establishing this ongoing ecological monitoring program at the urban-bush interface, and involving local tourism businesses. The Scenic World site is the pilot for a wider monitoring strategy. Tourism staff can share their ecological knowledge with visitors to the Blue Mountains and build ecological awareness more widely.
