Join ASU’s Acoustic Ecology Lab and SciStarter, an ASU research affiliate, for an interactive workshop on the Community Environmental Listening Desert Project! Led by Professor Garth Paine, this session will introduce participants to environmental listening techniques and the role of sound as a critical ecological indicator. Learn how to record and analyze soundscapes using your smartphone and specialized listening strategies to contribute valuable data to ongoing research at ASU. This workshop is part of Citizen Science Month, an ASU-supported global initiative, where your participation will count toward the worldwide goal of One Million Acts of Science by the end of April. Whether you attend in person on the Tempe campus in ISTBX 481 or online via Zoom, you’ll gain hands-on experience in sound collection, citizen science methods, and making a real impact!
