Many bumble bee populations are declining in Wisconsin and around the world. Here in Wisconsin, there is a federally endangered species of bumble bee, and seven species are listed as state species of greatest conservation need. Join Schlitz Audubon as we help the Bumble Bee Brigade and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources understand the distribution and biology of bumble bees in our region. At this training, we will become official Bumble Bee Brigade volunteers and learn how to accurately look for, photograph, count, and record bumble bees here at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. At the end of the training, each new volunteer will have the opportunity to sign up for monitoring shifts throughout the spring and summer. Citizen scientists of all ages are welcome to observe, but data must be collected and submitted by an adult.
This program will take place indoors and outdoors. Please read our current mask policy before participation.
