You can’t cool what you can’t see. Every building you trace helps researchers, city planners, and local communities better understand where heat risk is highest — and where solutions are needed most. Join us for an afternoon of humanitarian mapping for Citizen Science Month! Open to all! Extreme heat is now the deadliest weather-related hazard worldwide — yet its impacts are often invisible. In rapidly growing cities like Quezon City, Philippines or Campo Grande, Brazil,  or Phoenix, Arizona, dense development, concrete surfaces, and limited green space amplify dangerous temperatures for vulnerable people. New to mapping? Don't worry! This is the perfect opportunity to learn! Included in the event: - Free hands-on training for OpenStreetMap (OSM) and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Tasking Manager (HOTOSM). - Time to practice your new skills - A certificate of completion and a badge to share to Linkedin What tools do you need? -Curiosity and enthusiasm -Stable Internet Connection -Laptop or Desktop Computer (Chromebooks are okay) -Working email address (to make an OpenStreetMap account) This event is ideal for high school age people and older.
