It might be April 1st but there are no fools here! We are kicking off 2026's International Citizen Science Month with a global Twitter-style conference starting in your local time zone at 12:01 PM on the 1st of April 2026. We want to hear about your citizen science project or, if you are a citizen scientist, what you love about citizen science in less than 1,000 characters - that's no more than 3 posts!
Our aim is to launch a wave of citizen science social media posts across all social media platforms at lunchtime in every time zone worldwide. Think of it - 24 hours of non-stop citizen science posts! How cool is that? Finally - Interesting doomscrolling!
How to take part:
1. Sign up (see the How To Register section below) - Give us your details, including which handles you will be using, your name, time zone, your country, any hashtags, etc, and a rough abstract of what you want to post about. Imagine this was a conference poster. What do you want to tell your audience about the project? Outcomes? Challenges? We suggest you set the scene (describe the problem), present the key data, and then share the outcome. Beginning, middle and end! Don't forget pictures/videos/links/hashtags etc.
2. Get those posts written and scheduled. Don't forget to include the hashtags #CitSciTC and #CitSciMonth so we can all find, like, read, and share them.
3. Sit down at your designated time and watch your post(s) roll out. Make sure to respond to questions or provide feedback using the #CitSciTC and #CitSciMonth hashtags so we can keep the global citizen science conversation going from one time zone to another around the globe.
