Starting as a competition between the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the California Academy of Sciences, the City Nature Challenge is a global community science bio-blitz. This four-day event challenges residents to photo-document plants and animals in their community, from April 25 – May 4, in order to understand and appreciate urban biodiversity. Join us the first day of the event to learn how the challenge works and to use the iNaturalist app to report your own data. We’ll then explore Rutland Forest Preserve together to get you started as a bioblitz scientist! If you would like to enter your own observations, please download the free iNaturalist app prior to the program. Follow Forest Preserve District of Kane County: https://www.facebook.com/forestpreserve
