Come and join the volunteer coordinator of the Chain Community Garden as she introduces you to the community garden located at the Chain Exploration Center. You will learn about citizen science and how to do acts of science in the garden, from documenting pollinator activity with the Great Sunflower Project, to reporting phenology through iNaturalist and Budburst. Then, sign up for a free community garden plot and learn about volunteer opportunities. We will kick off the growing season by planting vegetable seeds that could be used in your own garden or the community garden.
The library will have registration available for you to volunteer at the Waupaca Area Public Library plot this spring through summer. All produce from our plot will be donated to the library's Little Free Pantry. Library staff will share ways you can get involved in citizen science at the gardens.
