DuneWatch conducts 4 different surveys which provide the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management with important information used to determine the health of the sand dunes. The surveys are as follows:
Flora survey: For this survey we will be using quadrants and determine species diversity and density. We will also identify whether the species are natives or weeds.
Fauna survey: Using a transect line we will record all evidence of fauna we may observe.
Measurements of the slopes: For this survey we will measure the height of the dunes above sea level. Over time we are able to analyse how the slopes change or any indication of erosion.
Human Impact assessment: We will record each type of human disturbance we may observe. This could include litter, evidence of trampling plants and so forth.
