Join Heal the Bay and the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium for an Earth Month extravaganza. The Aquarium will feature two ocean pollution talks at 1pm and 3pm. There will be a variety of family-friendly activities like a special newspaper flowerpot craft, a pollution-themed scavenger hunt, and a story-time presentation at 2pm. Learn how you can keep the coastal waters of LA safe, healthy, and clean.
This event kicks off Blitz the Bay, a month-long initiative to catalogue the plants and animals that call LA watersheds home. We'll show you how to use iNaturalist and get you ready to "Commit to Blitz" in your hometown. Join us for a special 1:30pm Nature Walk featuring Heal the Bay naturalists where you can practice your new iNaturalist skills!
Heal the Bay’s monthly Nothin’ But Sand beach cleanup takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Santa Monica Beach at Tower 1550 (north of the Santa Monica Pier). Volunteers must be 13 years old or accompanied by an adult. As part of Heal the Bay’s Zero Waste initiative, participants are asked to bring their own buckets, gloves and reusable water bottles. We track every piece of trash we pick up and add it the Heal the Bay Marine Debris database so you can help our scientists stay informed on what trash we are finding on the beach.
Don't forget to check out the amazing artistic masterpieces at the sandcastle competition adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier!
