EyeOnWater.org offers an app and online platform to observe and understand the colour of the water using the Forel Ule Scale. It also offers the option to include water clarity information when using an additional Secchi disk. The app is easy to use, you join the community and get immediate feedback of what the water colour you observe means. On our website you find more detailed information and videos of the important scientific value of the water colour observation. EyeOnWater does not do (citizen science) itself, meaning we just offer the platform and the tools, but leave it to scientists of montoring agencies to run a campaign and use the data, e.g. to make studies around climate change, algae blooms, etc. Good examples have been done by CSIRO in Australia, EPFL in Lake Geneva, as well as many local researches in Indonesia, New Zealand, and the USA.
