There are approximately 6 million adoptees in the US and many other individuals who have no knowledge of their biological roots. Many of these individuals are seeking to recover them and reunite with lost family members through consumer DNA testing at AncestryDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage and Family Tree DNA. You can help them recover their biological identities by testing your own DNA at one of these companies and sharing your family tree information with them. The DNA Detectives Facebook group is a gathering place for those seeking to learn more about using DNA testing for these purposes (over 190,000 so far!).
