Georgia Adopt-A-Stream is the state's volunteer water quality monitoring program. Our volunteers select a site along a local stream, wetland, lake, or estuary to adopt. They regularly monitor their site and submit monitoring data to our online database. Types of monitoring include chemical, bacterial, macroinvertebrate, visual, and amphibian monitoring.
The project goals are to increase public awareness of water pollution and water quality issues, collect baseline water quality data and observations, encourage partnerships between citizens and their local government, and provide citizens with the tools and training to evaluate and protect their local waterways.
