All across our country and our world, Girl Scouts are leaping to the aid of others by engaging in wonderful acts of service and kindness. About the Program Projects How to Participate: As part of the citizen science national service project, Girl Scouts can contribute to important scientific research by participating in one of the recommended citizen science projects. To complete the patch program: Before you begin, we highly recommend you create a SciStarter account so you can track your progress. Volunteers and adult facilitator SciStarter accounts are different from Girl Scout SciStarter accounts. Volunteers can use the Volunteer and Facilitator link to create their account while Girl Scouts (or their caring adults if under 13) can use this Girl Scout link to create their own accounts. Complete a citizen science project: Choose a project from the “Projects” tab on this page. By clicking the “Learn more” button, you’ll be taken to the project page to learn how to participate. Follow all instructions on the page and gather the proper materials to prepare. Then, collect data for the project using the recommended steps and materials. Share your story: When you’re done, add your project to be counted as participating in our national service projects. Snap a photo of your project and share it on social media using #GirlScoutsGiveBack and #ActsofScience (be sure to tag @girlscouts and @scistarter). Tell us about your project Unlock the Patch: If you wish to recognize your Girl Scout’s participation with a patch, we recommend the Girl Scouts Give Back patch.
