About the Program Projects How to Participate: As part of the citizen science national service project, Girl Scouts can contribute to important scientific research by participating in one of the recommended citizen science projects. To complete the patch program: Complete a citizen science project: Choose a project from the Project’s tab to create an account for your troop on SciStarter. Read the project’s instructions on your SciStarter dashboard and gather the needed tools and materials. Then collect data for the project using the recommended tools and materials, and log the data using your SciStarter dashboard. Share your story: When you’re done, add your project to be counted as participating in our national service projects. Snap a photo of your project and share it on social media using #GirlScoutsGiveBack and #ActsofScience (be sure to tag @girlscouts and @scistarter).
