Grace United Methodist Church’s Monday night Bible study group has decided to devote 1st and 3rd Mondays to citizen science promising to give future generations greater access to physical, mental, and social health. In conjunction with the national celebration of Citizen Science Day, anyone interested in supporting this effort is invited to an informational session at the church on April 4.
Citizen science meetings at Grace UMC will be open to people of all denominations and faiths. Supporters/advisors are sought even if they cannot attend the semi-monthly meetings. Those who attend regular meetings are not required to attend Bible study or Sunday worship, although the church welcomes participation in all three.
At the information session, Scott Sievert, an Ambassador of the Center for Open Science, will present about open science and the Open Science Framework, a free federally-funded web application which scientists can use to manage collaborative scientific projects. We will also discuss some examples of science we might conduct.
