The goal of the Great Southern Bioblitz is to provide a platform for groups, associations, and individuals to encourage engagement in citizen science across the southern hemisphere. Using the online platform iNaturalist, the Great Southern Bioblitz wants to increase biodiversity awareness and encourage citizens to actively contribute to the understanding of where plants, animals, and fungi occur as well as pin-pointing invasive species. 2021 is the second year #GSBioblitz has been run. In 2020 there were over 150 local government areas participated from Australia, South America, and Africa. 2021 looks to be bigger and better!
