Every year on the last weekend in April, the Greater Phoenix Area participates in the City Nature Challenge to cap off Citizen Science Month. This is a global effort to observe and document as much urban biodiversity as possible while engaging in community science. Using a free app called iNaturalist, anyone can get involved and share observations, anywhere from neighborhoods to local parks. Your participation counts for the 2.50 Million Acts of Science! Either add your iNaturalist username to your SciStarter account settings for an automatic count or report your observations manually to CitizenScienceMonth.org. Check out the geographic range for where to observe here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2026-greater-phoenix-area
