Explore one of Lowell’s hidden jewels. Hawk Valley Farm dates back to the 1660’s and is full of history. This is also a biodiverse property with a variety of habitats within its five acres: upland, a red maple swamp, unique walnut/butternut trees, and a brook running through it.
Help us assess the biodiversity of the property during this spring bioblitz. We’ll work with the SEEK app to identify flora and fauna throughout the property.
This public event is co-sponsored by Verizon and SciStarter.
We’ll share the history of the property and how it came to be protected for future generations. See historic rock walls, an old cabin foundation, and show you the route of the original “Ferry Road.”
What to wear: please wear sturdy shoes with ankle support, and long pants. Please dress for the weather with layers. Insect repellent is strongly suggested.
