This two-part citizen science program invites participants to explore Wisconsin’s bats through a library talk and an optional guided evening walk.
The library talk introduces bat behavior, habitat, and conservation challenges, and explains how citizen scientists contribute to bat research using tools such as iNaturalist and the Wisconsin Bat Program. The talk will take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 6 to 7 PM at the Racine Public Library.
The following Tuesday, participants may attend an optional guided bat walk at River Bend Nature Center, observing bat activity and learning how field observations support monitoring and conservation efforts. Participants may attend the talk, the walk, or both. Programs are led by Christa Trushinsky, naturalist educator and program coordinator at River Bend Nature Center.
