Volunteers needed! If you see flooding or abnormally high water levels along the coast, we want to see it! From June 22nd to June 25th, there is a king tide event, which is a perfect time to expect higher-than-normal water levels. During a king tide event, tides will be at some of their highest and lowest predicted levels of the year. To learn more or submit photos visit the North Carolina King Tides website: http://nckingtides.web.unc.edu/.
Remember to be careful - your safety is more important to us than any photo!
The North Carolina King Tides Project is an initiative to photo-document high water levels driven by storms, wind and king tides. These photos are valuable in helping communities understand vulnerabilities to coastal flooding, and provide a window into the future that will help improve community planning decisions.
