The University #LeaveNoTrash Challenge is a week-long event during Earth Month, April 18-26, 2026, designed to raise awareness of Leave No Trace Principle #3, Dispose of Waste Properly, by engaging the campus in a friendly, cross-university challenge to clean up our communities. This is a student-centered spinoff of the existing month-long Leave No Trace #LeaveNoTrash campaign. The first competition in 2024 was between Colorado State University and the University of Notre Dame. The April 2026 competition is open to colleges and universities around the world that want to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the winning university in a few categories: Most trash picked up, Most Participants in trash cleanups, and more!
