Join CitSci and Leave No Trace for the #LeaveNoTrash University Challenge this #CitSciMonth (April).
From April 18-26, campuses and universities worldwide will pick up trash, log data about it to power sustainability research, and compete for prizes.
Here's how to get started:
1. Sign your campus up via Leave No Trace’s form: https://lnt.org/universitychallenge
2. Join the CitSci project page: http://bit.ly/leavenotrashcitsci
3. Read our guide to help plan your clean-up event: http://bit.ly/quickguidelnt
How to Participate as a Student
1. Join the #LeaveNoTrash University Challenge on CitSci
Create an account on Citsci.org or download the Leave No Trace app. Join the #LeaveNoTrash University Challenge project. Your school will be added as a location for data submissions.
2. Pick Up Some Trash
Pick up some trash as you walk around campus or your neighborhood. Any amount of trash, whether it is a couple pieces or a trash bag full, makes a difference and counts toward the total challenge.
3. Record It
Using CitSci, record your cleanup effort, big or small. Tell us the amount of trash and type to help us better understand how to minimize waste on campus. Select your school from the location options to add to your total. We’re giving away prizes, so make sure to submit all the trash you pick up!
