There are over 200 million cases of malaria every year. A child dies every minute from this disease. Malaria is caused by a parasite that infects the blood. They are transmitted by mosquito bites. Diagnosis time can be up to 20 minutes. A microscopist has to count all the parasites in a blood sample. MalariaSpot players are “malaria hunters” who could help diagnose malaria throughout the world.
