Students make daily observations of penguin families as they raise their chicks to compare and contrast successful v failed nests. Share these observations with the expeditions' scientists. Daily weather data can be recorded as well as length of foraging trips, age of parents, location and size of nests, predator activity, growth of chicks. This project is for students to look for reasons, trends in nest success or simply compare and contrast the parenting of different nests. There is also an opportunity to receive a postcard from Antarctica and/ make a flag to fly at the penguin colony. The project will post (on the webpage) pictures of 10 selected families everyday for kids to compare recorded observations between penguin pairs and chicks. As I will be living in the colony with the penguins from early Nov 2022 to late Jan 2023, I will be able to accommodate requests for specific interest photos from students.
