Join PBS SoCal for a STEAM Webinar Series. For the March 11 session, the theme will be citizen science! K-5 educators will especially enjoy the presentation, but all are welcome. FEATURED SPEAKERS Vivienne Byrd Vivienne Byrd is the Librarian III leading the systemwide Full STEAM Ahead Initiative and Neighborhood Science Program at Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL). She works closely with various institutions and organizations to develop, organize and promote STEAM and citizen/neighborhood science programs. She coordinates with partners to facilitate STEAM and citizen science-related training for the librarians. She currently serves as a member-at-large on the American Library Association's Sustainability Round Table and as an associate on the International Federation of Library Associations' (IFLA) Environmental, Sustainability and Libraries Section. Vivienne co-chairs the Citizen Science Month Working Group of the Citizen Science Association and is also the project lead for the LAPL’s DTLA Mini Maker Faire. Caroline Nickerson Caroline is a Program Manager at SciStarter where she manages the Citizen Science Month Program, SciStarter’s Corporate Volunteer Programs, and other programmatic and outreach efforts, including working with SciStarter’s Syndicated Blog Network, which encompasses the Science Connected, Discover Magazine, and SciStarter platforms. She is a Master of Public Policy graduate from American University with a focus on environmental and climate change policy. While at American University, she was a William K. Reilly Environmental Policy Scholar and the 2019 Cherry Blossom Princess representing the state of Florida. Caroline is also affiliated with the UF-VA UNESCO Bioethics Unit, the Christensen Project, the DC Gator Club, and the Commission on Local Debates, and she was the grand prize scholarship winner at Miss Earth USA as Miss Louisiana Earth.
