The general public is encouraged to report Powerful Owl sightings through BirdData, which are then provided to the Atlas of Living Australia as well as other local and state databases. Those who want to formally participate in the citizen science project need to attend an introductory workshop, and will be invited along to gain experience in the field to help us identify breeding locations, and monitor breeding success. This project forms part of a wider national program being run in NSW and Victoria.
