More than four BILLION birds will migrate south from Canada this fall. Learn more about their fascinating journey and what their changing populations tell us about the health of our planet in a new film called "Flyways." Our free webinar will feature highlights from the film and showcase bird-related citizen science projects volunteers can join from anywhere during the upcoming fall migration! Register to join a free webinar on August 27 at 6 PM ET to learn more about the “Flyways” film, the citizen science opportunities featured on https://scistarter.org/flyways, and how you can lead others for impact this fall during your local migration. Shorebirds embark on epic migrations each year along ancient, often uncharted routes called Flyways. Over 200 species, including Far Eastern Curlews, Lesser Yellowlegs, Red Knots, and Hudsonian Godwits, travel from the southern hemisphere to the Arctic and back, flying non-stop for up to nine days without food or water. However, these bird populations are plummeting due to climate change and urban development. “Flyways,” a new documentary, explores a global conservation effort led by bird experts and citizen scientists working to understand and protect these migratory shorebirds. HHMI Tangled Bank Studios (the team behind “Flyways”) has partnered with SciStarter to inspire worldwide participation in bird-related citizen science ahead of the fall migration. In this webinar, we'll not only talk about how you can engage more deeply with the "Flyways" film, but also how you can participate in citizen science this fall during local bird migrations...and even lead others in the movement! Speakers will be from SciStarter, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Audubon, and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios.
