WWF-Australia and the WA Department of Parks and Wildlife have launched a citizen science survey to learn more about the distribution of rakali or Australian water rats in Western Australia. Very little is known about this species, where it is currently found and if it is stable or declining. The rakali is protected nationally and a Priority 4 species in WA. This survey will obtain broadscale ecological data critical for the monitoring of the species that would be impossible to obtain without the help of the community. The Rakali Community Survey is supported by Lotterywest and runs until 31 March 2015.
