Spotty Rain aims to share resources for managing drought risks across the Great Plains. We sponsor library programs that encourage community participation in volunteer drought monitoring via the CoCoRaHS and NDMC networks. It's super easy to volunteer! Localized groups of drought monitors can track, report, and plan for future drought events. Libraries can play a key role in these networks by hosting volunteer training, community discussions, education programs, and access to information for drought planning. This is a great program idea for libraries with youth STEM learning, master gardener clubs, seniors, and even a themed story time about rain!
