This is a drop-by program from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 16 with an optional guided woods walk at 1 p.m. Program leaders with walk and citizen science information will be at the McDonald Woods shelter in the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Enjoy spring’s beauty in McDonald Woods—from delicate wildflowers and budding trees to the sounds of birdsong. Get involved with the Chicago Botanic Garden community science program, Budburst, and observe flowers blooming and new leaves growing. Learn about our seasonal challenges and how to submit observations with our mobile app. Take a 45-minute guided walk at 1 p.m. You can also take a self-guided walk in McDonald Woods. (A short trail loop is about 1/3 mile; the longer trail loop is about 2/3 mile.) Dress for the weather. If winds are 20 or more miles per hour or if there is heavy rain, the program will be canceled.
