Explore local water quality through hands-on citizen science. Participants are invited to bring a small water sample from a nearby freshwater source such as a creek, river, lake, pond, or rain barrel. For those unable to bring a sample, locally collected water will be provided.
During the program, participants will work together to test water samples for key indicators of freshwater health, including pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen, using simple field methods. A brief soil activity will also explore soil texture and water absorption to demonstrate how land conditions influence runoff, water clarity, and overall watershed health.
All collected data will be submitted to the EarthEcho Water Challenge, contributing to a national effort to protect freshwater resources.
