Smartphones, they’re not just for Words with Friends anymore! Anyone can become a citizen scientist using just the phone in your pocket. Through apps like iNaturalist, eBird, and others, you can contribute data that scientists across the world use to learn more about the living things around you. In this 2 hour, hands-on workshop, held at the Como Streetcar Station on National Citizen Science Day, we will dig into what it means to be a citizen scientist and explore several free apps you can use to contribute data to citizen science projects. Please dress to be outside and bring a smartphone, tablet, or laptop computer. Please note that there is limited parking in front of the Streetcar Station. Children ages 10+ welcome with an adult. Contact Britt Forsberg, forsb118@umn.edu or 612-626-2690 with any questions. This workshop has been rescheduled from April 14 to April 24, due to severe winter weather.
