VanHarte is a citizen science project that helps detect heart and blood vessel disease at an early stage. The project makes preventive health screening more accessible by involving trained volunteers in simple health checks. Volunteers receive training and use an intuitive app and equipment to measure key health indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and body mass index (BMI). Results are recorded immediately and shared with participants, who can discuss them with a healthcare professional if needed. Health screenings take place in accessible locations, including community centers, pharmacies, and public events. This helps reach more people and lowers barriers to preventive healthcare. The project also contributes to scientific research. Researchers study whether trained volunteers can reliably perform these health checks and how citizens can play a sustainable role in preventive healthcare. By working together, citizens and researchers help improve early detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
