Prof. Paula Szkody (University of Washington) uses multi-wavelength observations to study close binary stars with active mass transfer -- so-called cataclysmic variables. Her current research leverages the Hubble Space Telescope and ground-based optical facilities around the world to determine which systems are well understood and what observations are still needed to complete our understanding.
