WeDigBio is an international event that focuses on digitization of biological research collections. We’re participating locally for the third year in a row and have a couple of local events lined up. The first will take place at the Chapel Hill Public Library on Thursday, October 19 from 4-7pm. Drop by to meet Gabriela Hogue, collections manager of fishes at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and the lead researcher behind CitSciScribe, to learn about our collections, see collection specimens, learn about local species, and help us transcribe. This is a drop-in program, so stop by any time to meet Gabriela and help us with some transcriptions! The second local event will take place at NCSU at in D.H. Hill Library ITTC Lab on Friday, October 20 from 9:30-11:30. This is a pre-registered program, so please look for the listing at NCSU (coming soon!) and follow the instructions to sign up through the university. We’re very excited to be a part of WeDigBio again this year, so please consider joining us at one of our public events. Can’t make it in person? You can participate in WeDigBio virtually from any computer by transcribing CitSciScribe records anytime October 19-22. You’ll even earn a special CitSciScribe badge to show that you took part in the event!
