Citizen science is a process by which people can take active role in scientific methods without having a formal background in science. Citizen scientists are individuals who contribute their time, skills, efforts and resources towards a scientific research in association with professionals of the field.
Our project aims to involve people to protect and monitor their lakes/streams and become stake holders of their community. The data collected from citizen scientists will be checked for validity to ensure the data can be used by researchers.
The process will hands-on, fun, people from all ages are welcomed. We will provide all volunteer participants with training and equipment to collect data for education and scientific uses. In the process they will learn about complexity of how nutrients, environment and humans affect water’s health.
