The Holmes family (Jeffrey N. Holmes, Joey P. Holmes and Jackie Holmes Burns) has been herping in Laurens County, South Carolina for nearly 60 years. During this time, we have amassed a great deal of general knowledge of reptiles and amphibians living in the Piedmont of South Carolina and have documented previously undocumented species. We invite Citizen Scientists from all over Laurens County to contribute to our base of knowledge by documenting their finds. We are especially interested in mole kingsnakes, Lampropeltis calligaster, which are found frequently in our home county. Since there are no existant records of Timber aka Canebrake rattlesnakes, Crotalus horridus, in Laurens County, we are eager to investigate and verify spottings of C. horridus.
We also want to collect spottings of black bear, which are being seen with increased frequency in Laurens County.
