Science and technology give us ways to address everything from disease to disasters. However, modern scientific research in areas such as health, food, and environment can be a risky endeavor. Sometimes it can lead to potential harms and irreversible outcomes. As research progresses from the lab to the real world, how should we address risks and uncertainties? Who decides what to research, when, and how? Add Your Voice! Join in and share your views about how to govern high-risk, high-payoff research. You will meet fellow citizens, learn about proposed experiments, and engage in thoughtful dialogue. No prior knowledge is required. There are no incorrect answers—every viewpoint is welcome and wanted! Applicants must be 18 years old or older to apply. Lunch will be provided. 12-15 participants will be selected from the applicant pool based on a number of factors in order to ensure a diversity of experiences and views among our participant group. Selected applicants who participate will receive a $100 stipend check by mail after completion. For more information, please visit: http://ecastonline.org/governing-research-focus-group/
