On this St. Patrick’s Day or Go Green Day 2026, we recycler at the Arcadia Ecohome #GoGreen by not only dressing green with an old T-shirt gifted by Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees several years ago for taking part in its NeighborWoods Month to plant and care community trees, but also finishing up our winter tree trimming project timely in the end of this winter season, as Southern California being hit by a weeklong heatwave beyond Spring Equinox, the 1st day of Spring, on 20 March 2026. More importantly, the winter tree-trimming project at the Ecohome’s Micro-forest is a CIEDM project for going zero green waste as part of our activities of annual participation in Global Recycling Day (GRD) on 18 March. We are keeping all tree trimmings on site instead of sending them for disposal, with leaves, twigs and small branches for composting and brush pile building or being grinded for mulching, and big branches for using as landscaping materials. Other activities include online action to spread the GRD messages to raise public awareness and to share what we do at the Ecohome, a zero waste home where we engage leave-the-leaves and zero organic waste practices on daily basis.
