As in past years, CIEDM is holding a local grassroots event to support & take part in the global campaign and celebration of WWD 2026 on Monday February 2 for raising public awareness of the vital role of wetlands for people, wildlife and the planet. The event takes place at the Arcadia Ecohome with the following activities: 1) Advanced registration of the CIEDM event with worldwetlandsday.org to mark our local event on the WWD global event map; 2) Plalking on to pick up trash as we walk to and from the Santa Anita Wash-Trail channeling source water from San Gabriel Mountains to Peck Road Park Lake just south of the Ecohome, so as to remove debris along the walking route and reduce stormwater & plastic pollution in local waterways and water bodies; 3) Sorting of the collected trash at the Ecohome’s Recycling Collection Center and placing recyclables in the blue bin for recycling, so as to reduce landfill impacts on underground water; and 4) A social media campaign through the week to spread the messages of WWD for raising public awareness and actions for wetland protection.
