Join the Detroit Zoological Society and community members throughout Detroit and all of Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties in a fun, global challenge to collaboratively record as many wildlife observations as possible from April 24 - April 27. It is easy to participate by joining this project and making observations on your own using the iNaturalist app. Any observation of wild plants, animals, and fungi in the greater metropolitan tri-county area of Detroit (Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties) will count during the four day challenge. You can participate by exploring the life in your backyard and neighborhood, in your local park, or on a field trip with your local naturalist group. You can also help with IDs for other people's observations to increase our species count, come to a bioblitz, or even hold your own event! This year's challenge takes place in two parts. From April 28 - May 10, participants will be given extra time to upload their observations and are encouraged to help with identifying what was found. Anyone can contribute, even if you're not an expert!
