Join RJ for a BioBlitz event that will teach community members how to document wildlife and biodiversity along the Bronx River using the iNaturalist app. Participants will take part in a guided exploration between local parks while learning about urban ecology and how citizen science can support long-term conservation and restoration efforts in NYC. Building on last year’s success, this year’s event will include prizes to the top 3 individuals who log the most observations on iNaturalist. The goals of the workshop are to increase community involvement in biodiversity monitoring, strengthen ecological literacy, and empower participants to become long-term environmental stewards of the Bronx River ecosystem. Expected outcomes include documenting hundreds of wildlife observations, increasing participation in citizen science, and helping community members gain a deeper understanding of local wildlife, habitat restoration, and the role residents can play in protecting urban ecosystems.
