Marine Debris Clean Up/Roadside Clean Up For over 50 years the LICA Spring Roadside Cleanup has been one of the very well attended events on Lummi Island. Everyone teams up for a enjoyable day of making the island a cleaner and more environmentally friendly place by starting out the morning with pastries and coffee and then organizing groups by roads or neighborhoods. When the teams of residents and friends are done, folks get together for a community social which includes grilled hot dogs or chili , drinks, and often entertainment. This event is sponsored and run by the Lummi Island Community Association, in coordination with the Island Library and Heritage Trust who provide allied programs and information, for example: The Heritage Trust has a Citizen Science event the same day. The Island Library curates a collection of Citizen Science Books.
