Join us for the Ohio Crane Survey in Pickaway County—an in-person event to explore local crane activity! Ohio Crane Survey: Pickaway County Join the Park District and help Pickaway County take part in the Ohio Sandhill Crane Survey, a statewide citizen science effort led by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in partnership with the International Crane Foundation and the Ohio Bird Conservation Initiative. Sandhill cranes are a threatened species in Ohio, and this annual survey helps track their growing population while protecting important wetland habitats. Volunteers will be assigned a survey block within Pickaway County to monitor for cranes during a short morning count. No prior experience is required. Instructions and reporting guidelines will be provided, and binoculars are encouraged. Registration is required so survey blocks can be assigned.
