Prepare (~15 minutes)

   1) Determine when eclipse maximum will start at your viewing location by looking it up on the Eclipse Path Map by Time and Date.
   2) Open the digital observation form here, or print a hardcopy form and fill in the blanks for your location and eclipse maximum starting time.
   3) Review training materials on the Training page if you’d like more information.
   4) Make a plan to be at your observation location an hour before eclipse maximum.

Participate (~1-2 hours)

1) Select the animal you’d like to observe. This could be a pet, a zoo animal, a farm animal, or any animal in nature. For advice on observing animal behavior, view this training video.
2) Start observing an hour before eclipse maximum and continue to make observations based on the intervals listed on your observation form.

After the eclipse (~10 minutes)

1) Submit your observations! If using a hardcopy form, you will do this by scanning the QR code in the top right corner of the form.
2) Answer some questions about your experience.
