Interested in scientific field research but don't know where to start? Join Storm Surge Protectors in assessing the conditions of our coastal wetlands! Storm Surge Protectors is a UNCW MarineQuest citizen science project whose aim is to collect a long-term data set to help determine the ecological condition of coastal wetlands in North Carolina. Community citizen scientists will learn background for the project and receive training in collecting wetland vegetation data. Trained citizen scientists will be asked to collect data once a month from one of our 3 research locations. This event and all resources are free! And you don’t need a science background to join! This meeting will be in-person and includes in-field training at Fort Fisher. For more information about Storm Surge Protectors visit our website.
